Summit Air is announcing the addition of new service to its growing network. It has officially operated its flight services on the new route, Kathmandu to Suketar Airport from 13th October 2015 and it is scheduled to operate two days a week i.e. on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Suketar Airport is the only airport in the region serving Taplejung district and the other neighboring districts. It is the gateway to Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek and other tourist attractions in the region. Suketar Airport also known as Taplejung Airport is about a couple of hours away from the main town of Taplejung.It is on the high altitude and lies on a flat plateau, from where you can see the majestic view of the great Himalayas with snow throughout the year along with fresh air and clear blue sky.
Kanchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world with elevation of 8586 m from sea level and shares border with Sikkim (India) as well. Kanchenjunga range consists of five individual peaks where Kanchenjunga II is the highest among those. The airport was under construction few months back and it has recently opened up its flight services.
